Inverness
Inverness
is known as the capital of the Highlands. It is an ideal place to use as a base for touring the
beautiful Highlands of Scotland. It is a warm, welcoming city which has something for everyone
including shopping centres and markets and many fine restaurants.
By
the 18th century Inverness was a bustling city with many wealthy merchants settling on the outskirts
of the town and in 1822 the Caledonian Canal was completed linking Inverness to the west coast
of Scotland. The city was well known for it's concerts and theatrical performances.

There
are many things to see and do near Inverness including Loch Ness, Fort George, dolphin watching
on the Moray coast, Culloden battlefield, walking and climbing, whisky trails, castles, Cairngorm
National Park and skiing.
