Dundee
Dundee, known as the "City of Discovery" is Scotland's fourth largest city. It is a cosmopolitan city which has excellent shopping and caters for art, theatre, culture and sports. It's history is steeped in industry and engineering, as well as the sea and shipping.
The
textile heritage centre at Verdant Works was awarded Europe's Top Industrial Museum for 1999.
Nearby on the bank of the River Tay, Captain Scott's famous Antarctic expedition ship R.R.S.
Discovery is berthed, just by the award-winning Discovery Point Visitor Centre.
Dundee
is a shoppers delight with it's large shopping centres - Overgate,
Murraygate and Wellgate shopping - and many nearby major outlet stores, in particular City Quay.
For the more cultured there is Dundee Rep Theatre and Dundee Contemporary Arts centre. For something a bit lighter try the "Sensation" Science Centre, where interactive exhibits help children of all ages understand the five human senses. Dundee also has two major football teams - Dundee Football Club and Dundee United Football Club.
