Skerryvore
Skerryvore
are a 6 piece traditional band based in Glasgow, Scotland. An all male band, they have been dubbed
the ‘boy band’ of traditional Scottish music. The roots of the band come
from the West Coast of Scotland and in particular the tiny Island of Tiree, in the Inner Hebrides
of Scotland.
Their driving sound of bagpipes, accordions and fiddle fused brilliantly with kicking rhythms
of guitar, bass and drums has seen them appear at various festivals throughout Britain and Europe
including the Hebridean Celtic Festival, MOK Festival, Celtic Connections and the Celtica Festival
in Italy.
Their debut album, ‘West Coast Life’ was awarded album of the month on BBC Radio Scotland’s
Celtic Connections programme in August 2005. Their second album, titles ‘On The Road’ was
released in July 2007 and sold out the first batch of 2000 albums in its first week. After 32 gigs
in 31 days in July 2007, the band’s hectic schedule continues with appearances throughout
the UK, Ireland and Europe at various festivals and events.
