Douglas Craik
Douglas Craik is a well known name on the folk music circuit in Scotland. He has been singing
and playing guitar since the 1960's when he played with some university friends in a group called
Avizandum (a Scottish legal term meaning to procrastinate indefinitely).
Over the years he has performed in many folk
clubs and small concerts and basically wherever
anyone would let him! Douglas has a very tuneful voice and likes to sing his songs with feeling
and emotion (not a dry-eye in the house). He is also very keen to promote the traditional songs
of our dear friend Robert Burns and Douglas has
organised and performed in a number of concerts based on this theme.
The
wealth of experience and knowledge Douglas has gained over his many years on the folk scene has
helped him recently achieve a position as a National Director of the Traditional Music & Song
Association of Scotland (TMSA).
This has given him a new focus to support and promote traditional music in Scotland and in particular
his local Perthshire.
