Abernethy Round Tower
The
Abernethy Round Tower is one of the two round towers of Irish style surviving in Scotland, dating
from the end of the 11th century. The tower is 15ft in diameter at its base and 74ft high.
A Pictish symbol stone can be found at the foot of the tower. The stone dates back to around
AD600. The carvings on the stone comprise of a decorative tuning fork with a hammer, an anvil
and a decorative motif of a crescent and v-rod.
Keys are available locally daily during Summer months between 10am and 5pm, except Mondays.
The tower can be found in the village of Abernethy off the A913, east of the Bridge of Earn.
